Nordic Coir was founded together by Dinesha Rathnayake and Leonard De Lenarolle with a shared ambition to build a bridge between Sri Lanka's natural-fibre capabilities and the Nordic market.

A Shared Direction
After establishing their lives in Sweden, the founders recognised an opportunity to connect Sri Lanka's coir resources and production knowledge with growing Nordic interest in natural materials, responsible product development and practical alternatives to conventional materials.
Dinesha's background in food science, quality systems and postgraduate studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) contributes to the company's quality-led approach to product evaluation and supplier collaboration.

Nordic Coir was created around a simple opportunity: to connect a versatile natural material with applications where functionality, quality and responsible material choices matter.
What began with the idea of bringing Sri Lankan coir products to the Nordic market has developed into a broader platform for professional growing media, aquaculture, environmental applications, nursery solutions and selected natural-fibre consumer products.
